Here are pictures from the event at La Pezade on Aug. 22, 2010. Lt Col. Roy D. Simmons, Jr. (USAF, Ret.) was entered as a Chevalier into the Order of the Legion d' Honeur during the ceremony. Upon completion he was escorted first to the location of Lt Richard Francis Hoy's crash and then later to the home of the mayor of a French village. There he was given a canteen taken from the wreckage of Lt. Hoy's plane 66 years earlier. This canteen was kept by one of the three boys who led authorities to the crash site. Upon this man's death last year he gave the canteen to his nephew who, in-turn, gave it to Lt Col Simmons. The ceremonies ended with a luncheon in honor of Lt Col Simmons and Col Don Bohler in Saint-Affrique.
